Reminders for Residents and Guests

  • No open burning allowed at any time by anyone except Watauga Vista staff. (NOTE: Use of WV staff for open burning will be at the expense of the Resident or guest and only during non-dangerous periods.
  • Barbeque grilling and wood fires contained in approved fire burning grills or containers are allowed, but only during View from Grouse Rdnon- dangerous periods. Please douse all fires thoroughly with water when finished (live coals can exist for up to 48 hours after use).
  • Do not dump wood or coals on the ground...
  • No Fireworks at ANY TIME!!! (North Carolina State Law)
  • Speed Limits are 15 mph at ALL times throughout Watauga Vista. Please obey for your safety and that of others. Be aware of narrow roads. Some two way roads become one way during periods when ice is expected. Use caution on mountain roads during winter months. Many Residents use the roads as walking trails so please be cautious of people and animals when traveling in the Vista.
  • No hunting or camping at any time throughout Watauga Vista.  
  • No discharging of firearms at any time
  • No trailers, motor homes, travel trailers, boats, or boat trailers allowed unless parked in a closed garage.
  • Motor vehicles must be licensed for use and driven by a licensed driver.
  • Swimming in the lake is at your own risk. Children under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Absolutely no person should attempt to walk on the frozen part of the lake at any time!
  • No littering! Please help us keep Watauga Vista clean and enjoyable at all times!
  • Please do not trespass. Some properties may not be safe.
  • Keep dogs and cats indoors at night. There are numerous wild animals living in Watauga Vista and the surrounding area, including poisonous Tthe Pondsnakes. If pets are outdoors, keep them on a leash and on your property.
  • We encourage you to take time to stroll through Watauga Vista and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings right here in our community!
